Who We Are
Yokoso! Welcome to We Ride Japan!
We Ride Japan was founded by Will and Tamie Turner in 2023. Based on Shikoku Island, Will and Tami work in regional tourism development, using cycle tourism as a tool to revitalize the region they live.
After meeting in Japan in 2005 they spent 2 years travelling the world on bicycles before settling in New Zealand. In 2020 they returned to Japan to embark on a new adventure. Through their work and life experiences in both the cycle and tourism industries, and their current work in regional tourism development, Will and Tami offer professional well-planned and unique itineraries. Our goal is to give our guests once in a lifetime experiences in the country we love. Small groups, local guides and the spirit of adventure is what we’re all about.
Thanks for your interest! We look forward to hosting you!
Our team
Tamie Okawa
Born and raised in Matsuyama, Shikoku, Tamie travelled and lived overseas for many years before returning to her homeland. Since returning to Japan, Tamie has been working on a regional revitalisation project, utilizing cycle tourism as a tool to revitalise the local economy.
Tamie made her first trip by bicycle back in 2006, when she cycled around northern Scotland. Here she fell in love with bicycle travel and hasn’t stopped cycling since. She loves nothing more than showing guests around her home country and her attention to detail and careful planning means nothing is missed!
William Turner
Will first came to Japan from the UK in 2004. During his first year living in the land of the rising sun he bought a bike and some pannier bags and set off on an adventure around the country that would inspire him for the future. After meeting his now wife Tamie, together they cycled around the world on their bicycles.
Will worked in the bicycle industry for over 10 years before turning to adventure tourism. He now spends his time guiding tours in Japan and New Zealand and working on regional tourism projects in the area he lives. He has a love for adventure and exploration and enjoys sharing this passion with his guests.
Nami Yano
I’ve spent my whole life in Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku and love where I live! I am a self-proclaimed “local specialist ” and work as a museum guide and a boatman, mainly in the Nanyo (South Ehime Prefecture) area.
I started cycling in the summer of 2021 when I participated in a group ride with Will & Tamie. I was impressed by the feeling of being more integrated in nature and I quickly became addicted!
Is my world small? NO! The world I live in is deep! I look forward to meeting you!
Ryuji Ise
Yu Takenouchi
I’m Yu from Kyoto! I started mountain biking after a family camping trip and entered the competitive scene at the age of 8. I went on to become the Japanese national champion in various cycling disciplines, and from 2013 to 2015, I was a member of a Belgian Continental team, competing primarily in cyclocross and road races across Europe. After that, I focused on mountain biking and cyclocross competitions in Japan, while also mentoring youth and junior athletes and working as a tour guide to help more people enjoy cycling in Japan.
I hope to use my experience to support you and make your cycling journey even better! I can go fast if you’d like, but don’t worry—I now specialize in leisurely, laid-back rides 😆

Hiroaki Terazono (aka TED)
Ted found cycling during his career working as a manager for ANA airlines. Hard work and long hours took it’s toll on his health and cycling was the key to getting and staying healthy. Since then he hasn’t looked back and has become a passionate cyclist who enjoys riding and taking part in cycle events around the country.
Origianlly from Kagoshima, in the south of Kyushu, Ted now resides in Ehime. He brings a wealth of skills to the team with years of experience in the tourism industry in Japan. A fantastic host with a great eye for detail!
Ted recently switched to an E-road bike and as such we can no longer keep up with him on the hills!

We Ride Japan: Masters of Detail I recently completed the 9-day Shikoku and Seto Inland Sea cycling tour with We Ride Japan, and it was truly a phenomenal experience. While the views were stunning (as expected), what truly set this company apart was the team's relentless, almost military-grade attention to detail. This wasn't just a cycling trip; it was a flawlessly executed, luxury cultural experience that ran like clockwork. Safety and Navigation: Every single morning, the bikes were tuned, tire pressures were perfect, and the GPS unit pre-loaded with the route. This proactive approach meant zero navigational stress and maximum focus on the ride. Every ride, we were led by an enthusiastic Leader at the front and a trusty Sweep at the back (with several sign postings by the accompanying van along the way) - truly conveying their commitment to road safety. Accommodation, Luggage and Logistics: The van support team performed a daily miracle. My bag was always waiting for me in my room, spotless and secure, even in remote locations. It's the small detail of the consistency and reliability that makes a massive difference over a multi-day tour. Accommodation was also better than expected - ranging from traditional ryokans to chic hotels; needless to say, the cuisine that followed was nothing but impressive. Personalized Care: Attention to detail extended beyond mechanics. The guides, particularly Nami and Will, had a profound depth of knowledge. Whether it was pointing out a specific, locally grown fruits we were cycling past, or explaining the history behind a tiny roadside temple, they transformed the scenery into a narrative. The constant supply of hot and cold drinks, snacks and the occasional chocolate treat (donuts, chocs) waiting at the end of every climb was the ultimate sign of their thoughtfulness. If you are looking for a guided cycling tour where every logistical hurdle has been smoothly removed, leaving you free to just ride and enjoy the breathtaking culture of Japan, We Ride Japan is the company to choose. Highly, highly recommended - they are truly masters of their craft.Posted on Robert TobinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have just returned from the Nov’25 Seto Inland Sea and Shikoku Cycle. Offering much more than just a cycling trip, WeRideJapan’s Will and Tamie have curated a tour that also immerses you in Japanese style, culture and history. They are ably supported by a great team of guides who ensured that everything ran smoothly, whether it be preparing our bikes for the day’s ride, explaining local customs and etiquette or trying to enhance our Japanese vocabulary with varied success. We were so lucky to ride with Will, Nami, Ryuji and Tomo on our tour. They were so welcoming, helpful and keen to showcase their beautiful country. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to engage with all the group, ensuring everyone had the best experience. Daily riding itineraries were varied, well-constructed, interesting and full of surprises: whether it be spectacular scenery, backroads through small villages, hidden temples and shrines or exhilarating downhills! With well-timed breaks and a fantastic selection of snacks and drinks to refuel our legs, the daily kms travelled seemed to just fly by. We were so impressed by the standard of accommodations and some remarkable meals highlighting the very best of Japanese cuisine, with talented chefs creating set meals for our group. All-in-all, a fantastic cycling experience catering for all levels of cyclist that we can heartily recommend! Can’t wait to try another tour. Thank-you everyone at WeRideJapan. Mata-ne! I loved that we were seeing sights that are off beaten track a bit. Great organisers and support team that were not only helpful but fun and friendly too.Posted on Helen DominishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We joined the Seto Inland Sea and Shikoku Tour, 6-14 October, 2025. We were amazed and delighted with the quality of our eBikes, the fabulous food, the well-thought out rides, the varied (and excellent) accommodation and the knowledgeable and helpful guides. For 14 riders, we had 4 guides and two support vans, ensuring that everything went smoothly. Thank you Will, Nami, Hiro and Yuu for a fabulous trip and the memories of a lifetime.Posted on Frank LodgeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Will and Tamie put together a fantastic trip for our group of 8 senior riders. We benefited from their knowledge and experience of Shikoku in putting together an excellent 12 day self guided ride through this wonderful island. Selected accomodation and route was first rate. They were always on hand if we needed help and went out of their way to make sure the trip went smoothly. We are an experienced group of cyclists with many international trips together. We all rated this as the best organised and curated trip we have undertaken. Suffice to say, would recommend without hesitation.Posted on Mark DonovanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a wonderful wonderful cycling holiday. Scenery fantastic, weather great, hospitality first class, food brilliant. Thank you Tamie for taking care of us. It was an unforgettable adventure. Everything worked perfectly. From the GPS to the train ride, to the road transfer, to the restaurant bookings and hotels. Anyone with a reasonable level of fitness for over 60s who enjoy cycling 60 to 70 kms a day up hill and down dale this is a must trip. Mark and JanePosted on ShaneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tamie and Will put together a great 2 week bike ride through Shikoku for our group. It couldn't have gone any smoother thanks to their planning and support. Our group of 8 males ranged through ages from early 60s to mid 70s.We requested the ride take us mostly through quiet and scenic back country and thats what we got. We hired their bikes and they booked our hotels for us, and a few restaurants, gave us the GPX files and we were on our own and on our way. It went like clockwork. Day by day, we crept our way through the island. Bridges, tunnels, rivers, oceans, hills, fabulous food, amazing accommodation, friendly locals, courtesy and two rest days when our luggage would appear at our accomodation like magic. We had a chance to refill our panniers and our luggage was gone and off to meet us at the next rest day. It allowed us to travel light. It was a great way to do a bike tour. They checked in on us numerous times and sorted out any logistical matters. The ride notes were spot on with advice and recommendations. We've done numerous rides over the last 15 years. It's the first time all riders scored the trip a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend We Ride Japan to plan your tour if your e looking to bike ride in Japan. Too many superlatives are not enough to describe how good the Southern Japan Cycle tour was with We Ride Japan’s Will, Tamie, Yu and Tomo. Incredibly well organised with obvious attention to detail, first class accommodation and a range of cultural experiences beyond cycling, this was a sensational holiday. The beautiful landscape was the backdrop, but it was the team who delivered the experience. I can’t wait to do the next one. 🙏🏻Posted on Janice CTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Joined the Southern Japan Tour in Oct 2025 and it was perfect! The routes planned were amazing with the best scenic views. Accommodation and food options were also top notch. Rented a Specialized Aethos from them that was in tip top condition and the team made sure bikes were ready everyday. Able to complete routes at own pace. Will, Tamie, Yu and Tomo took really good care of the group, very clear instructions, best hospitality. Thank you for the great tour ❤️Posted on Judy BeswickTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Completed the Seto Inland Sea and Shikoku Cycle Tour October 2025 with "We Ride Japan". What a sensational, well organised trip. The scenery was breathtaking, other cyclists were friendly and lovely to meet. Accommodation and food was great. Could not fault this trip and thanks to Will, Tami, Nami, Yu and Hiro for making this trip one to remember for a long time to come.
